Upper Deck’s Inspirational Work

Upper Deck’s Inspirational Work

We’re on a mission to recognize greatness whenever and wherever we see it…and we saw a lot of greatness this month at the iMedia Summit. One of the companies that really struck us was Upper Deck and their inspirational work, with projects like the Jack Hoffman rookie card.

Upper Deck is a leader in the trading card industry. The Company also regularly partners with big names in sports such as Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and LeBron James to produce memorabilia, and creates games and collectibles featuring what’s hot in pop culture like Marvel and Hello Kitty.

RecognizeGreatnessWhile Upper Deck is a successful and accomplished company, celebrating its 25th year in business, it’s their intention of doing good things to change the world that made them really stand out to us. In an effort to bring attention to great people, Upper Deck has created specialty cards highlighting the accomplishments of those people as well as raising awareness of their charities.

For example, the rookie card created for 7-year-old brain cancer patient Jack Hoffman was so inspirational that it gained national media coverage. The cards sold for more than $50,000 helping Jack’s family pay their medical bills so they could focus on Jack’s treatment. The company has also created a tribute card for Josh Harding, goalie for the Minnesota Wild, to give hope to people suffering with MS and bring attention to Harding’s charity. Similarly, a “Heroic Inspirations” card was created to honor Mandi Schwartz, a Yale hockey star who passed away from cancer in 2011.

We believe in producing great work and giving back. We love when we see other businesses that feel the same way. Upper Deck knocks it out of the park when it comes to being great.
